It may only be July, but many parents are already preparing for Back To School. We want to help our kiddos with the multi facets of school, but this content will apply to pre-school up to college students, parents and teachers too! After all, as we have discussed in previous webinars, essential oils are a great way to support the body’s systems, emotions and to maximize overall wellness.
Remember…you don’t need to be an expert to make better choices for your health and wellness and that of your family. So, let’s get started as we follow the day of a student.
Those Dreaded Words…Rise & Shine – It’s Time To Wake Up!
Straight off I want to grab my glass of water with a drop of Peppermint and Lemon Vitality oils in it. For children, diffusing is great option, especially with an uplifting aroma such as orange. I like to add orange to the En-r-gee blend – that will definitely get you going first thing.
The Morning Start Bath Gel wakes me up in the shower and gets me ready to physically face the day.
For a more gentle wake up…diffuse oils such as Joy and Lemon, or another blend that puts a smile on your face.
What About A Rise & Shine Smoothie?
I personally like to start off with almond milk and a drop of Orange Vitality or Peppermint Vitality in my Pure Protein Complete Shake – of course, normally I pick the chocolate flavored one, but here’s another you could make:
Blend together: 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt, 3/4 cup skim milk, 3-4 mandarins, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, ice cubes, and 2 drops of Tangerine vitality.
Breakfast is generally considered the most important meal of the day. And there is an array of healthy items from Young Living. When you get the chance please research Einkorn flour. It is an ancient grain that only has 14 chromosomes, so our bodies know how to process it easily. One of my twins has a more sensitive tummy when it comes to wheat (not really significant at all, but enough to notice her discomfort when she’s had too much), but she loves the Einkorn cereal. And it’s a cereal any parent can feel happy about giving their child, and that’s a very rare thing when you know the ingredients in cereals found in the supermarket. There really shouldn’t be any wonder why higher numbers of children are having food sensitivities and more.
Health is Important – Let’s Start and Stay Mighty & Strong All Day
Although Young Living carries an assortment of oil infused products created just for kids, MOST are created for the ENTIRE FAMILY.
I’ve mentioned the power of NingXia Red multiple times before, so, no matter your age, enjoy this daily – to energize, fortify and revitalize the body and support overall health and wellness from head to toe. Your eyes, liver, brain and more will be thankful. This is one that is loved by everyone in our household, and I truly believe it helped me get through life with twins – they have been very active ever since they learned to walk.
Thieves Vitality essential oil blend supports a healthy immune function, but it’s a very HOT essential oil. Meaning hot to touch, as it contains powerful oils such as Clove and Cinnamon Bark. So, if this is for your child, why not combine a few drops with a carrier oil, such as Young Living’s V-6, which contains six different vegetables oils that are very light and easy to use. I then roll it on the bottom of my girls’ feet at bedtime, but you could do this as your children are about to go outside and face the day. I love to combine this for them with Oregano too, which is another hot oil.
What About Specific Supplements Designed For Children?
KidScents MightyZyme is an all-natural vegetarian product in the form of chewable tablets designed to help children combat the negative effects of enzyme depletion. They address each of the digestive needs of growing bodies and assist normal digestion of all foods including proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
My girls love KidScents MightyVites. It’s basically their daily vitamin, where they take between 1-3 tablets depending on what’s going on. And, I even know of adults that take these instead of the adult version.
But what do we always hear about that’s so important for us?….Probiotics! But what’s so great is KidScents MightyPro, which not only has an amazing doze and quality of probiotics, but also the prebiotics, which is the food that probiotics need to do their thing! We all want a system fully of friendly bacteria! So this is great for an overall healthy system, which can easily be compromised at school.
These could actually be thrown into their lunch box as they are in individual packets. And my girls still think this is candy.
First Day Jitters
The first day of anything can be daunting, and that includes important work presentations.
All children love diffuser necklaces or bracelets, and there are so many styles on the market to choose from. These are a simple way for your child to take a comforting aroma with them wherever they go. No need to lug around a diffuser anymore.
I’ve banned my oldest from Valor as it gives her too much confidence, but other more calming blends such as Stress Away or another favorite of your child will help immensely.
But as tummies are normally the first sign of jitters, the KidScents TummyGize is always at hand in my purse for my girls. It smells wonderful and great at calming them and their bellies down.
Now Kids NEED Hand Soap
It’s like children attract germs! I don’t know how they do it. We make our own in this house with various scents. A simple one to start with, in a foaming hand soap dispenser is to combine:
- 1/4 cup of unscented Castile soap
- 10 drops of Thieves essential oil
- 1/2 tsp of carrier oil (instead I tend to add a drop or two of Vitamin E)
- And fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.
You’ll want to shake gently afterward to ensure a good mix.
This is a much healthier option than the toxin filled hand soaps in any public restroom.
But when you’re on the go and don’t have access to a sink and clean water, we use the Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier, now labeled as Sanitizer. We all love the smell of it (it’s also infused with Peppermint essential oil). It doesn’t dry out your hands, and of course doesn’t have any of those nasty toxins in it. The small 1oz bottle is perfect for a school bag – I carry one in my purse. And the larger 7.6oz bottle, which comes with a pump, is very convenient for a teacher’s desk.
Also, on a daily basis you may want to spray a special concoction in your child’s hair before they leave for school – think about protecting the body’s natural defense system. Well, we don’t want our kids sharing anything as they stick their heads together, now do we?
So in a 2oz spray bottle mix 20 drops of Lavender (which is in your premium starter kit), 20 drops of Rosemary, 0.5 oz of Witch Hazel and 1.5 oz of water.
Plus the use of Young Living’s KidScent’s Shampoo has a safe, mild formula designed to provide the perfect pH balance for children’s delicate skin. It also smells wonderful!
Stinky Kid Spray
Even if you’re not in hot Texas, kids run around and get hot and stinky, especially as they enter the teenage years. A fabulous solution is to add 15 drops of the Purification blend into a 4oz spray bottle and fill it up with distilled water. Shake well before each use, and spray smelly clothing before washing. It’s also a great one to spray in well used sneakers, or even in a school bag when something perishable has been left in there, for way too long. If you don’t have the popular Purification blend, which would be my first go-to, try the Thieves or Citrus Fresh blends.
Playtime is key for children and adults too. So, check out the pdf presentation on our website regarding Summer Sports. Isn’t it great that we have a company that provides natural products for the whole family without the worry of added synthetic ingredients.
For children that hit the floor too often – grab the KidScents Owie.
And for us older kids, check out the Sulfurzyme supplement, Ortho Sport Massage oil, Cool Azul Pain Cream or Sports Gel, PanAway blend, Peppermint, Deep Relief roll-on, Marjoram, Lemongrass or Copaiba essential oils. I love them all for how they make my body feel. So really, if we use ANY of these, we really don’t have an excuse not to hit the gym daily or join another sports team.
Dreamsicle Fruit Dip
There’s no doubt, when our children come home, they’re hungry. But usually dinner isn’t ready, so this is a great time to get some extra fruit and vegetables into their systems. If they need a little extra encouragement, why not make this quick dip by mixing together:
- 8oz of softened cream cheese, and
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
Then fold in:
- 4 oz of thawed whip topping and
- 3 drops Orange Vitality.
You’ll want to chill this is in the refrigerator before serving, so whip it up earlier in the day and then it’s ready for them the moment they come home.
I personally don’t add the whip topping or powdered sugar, but instead add a splash of maple syrup with a few drops of the Citrus Fresh blend or 1-2 drops each of Lavender and Lemon.
Homework Study Aids
Diffusing in our household is very common when it comes to study time. Why not active your limbic system, which is the center of emotion but also learning and memory? I sometimes allow the girls to pick out what they would like diffused, but they normally love anything I combine.
Young Living’s blends are already scientifically blended for us, which makes our job easier. Brain Power or Clarity are great blends to choose, and I would apply one of these before any test. Think focus, attention and concentration. Peppermint is another good one (but be careful with its high menthol content – it’s strong). It will keep you awake, that’s for sure. I personally often combine Rosemary and Orange together in our school room.
The KidScents GeneYus is a fabulous option, but as it’s already pre-diluted for children I tend to rub that one directly on their skin, or they inhale it straight from a drop in their own cupped hands. When you’ve got a lot going on, this is a great choice when needing to stay on task…one of my girls really should bathe in this one.
Bath time with the KidScents Line
There are multiple items in the KidScents Line, including items such a shampoo, bath gel, lotion and toothpaste. And all their packaging has been updated since this picture was taken.
The important thing to note is that these products have specifically been designed to help care for our little ones. They are packed with natural ingredients and carefully chosen therapeutic-grade essential oils. They do NOT contain mineral oils (that are derived from petroleum), toxic ingredients, artificial colorings or synthetic perfumes.
There are also tricks for making these products last a lot longer than you would think. Remember all Young Living’s products are highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way.
Here’s a Detangler Spray to avoid the tears.
My girls used to have major problems with other natural shampoos that required a detangler spray, otherwise there would be plenty of tears. Thankfully, since using the KidScents Shampoo and a different brush, they haven’t really had a problem, but sometimes they still get this detangler spray for fun!
Heat up, but don’t boil, 1/2 cup of distilled water and add it to a 8oz spray bottle containing 1/8 cup Young Living’s Lavender Mint Conditioner, which smells amazing! Shake the bottle well until it all combines. Then add in 5 drops of Tea Tree and 5 drops of Lavender and shake again to distribute. Their hair detangler is then ready to use, but I would still shake it before each use.
When It Comes To Bedtime, Routine Is Key
But who wouldn’t sleep better when their pillow smells divine? So combine in an 8oz spray bottle: 20 drops of Lavender essential oil, 1 Tbsp of Witch Hazel and top up the bottle with distilled water. Shake the bottle before each use and mist linens before bedtime. Remember from a previous webinar, the Seedlings line, which is designed for our smallest of babies has a linen spray. So if you don’t like DIY, there’s one already made for you.
We also have pre-made roll-ons such as Tranquil and Rutavala, which are great options, along with the new Peace & Calming roll-on that was launched at convention this month. Roll-ons do make applying oils very convenient.
In our house…a drop of Valerian on their big toe works a treat. But I commonly use Cedarwood, or KidScents Sleepyize. If you didn’t know already, my girls go to sleep really well. It’s normally within minutes. From a very early age I’ve encouraged this and an early bedtime, but I have recently increased it to 7:30-8pm. Well it is summer time! Point is…sleep is so important for us, especially children.
For extra help, use this Sweet Dreams Cream
Melt together 1 cup of Shea Butter and 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Allow it to cool a little, but so it’s still melted. Then add in 1/2 cup almond oil and 8 drops each of the the following essential oils: Lavender, Peace & Calming (or Peace & Calming II), Valor (or Valor II) and Cedarwood.
Once combined, cool or freeze the mixture until it’s fairly solid. Then, whip the solid mixture with a mixer until it reaches a butter consistency.
At bedtime give your little one a foot rub with this mixture, or even yourself.
And while your kiddos are dreaming away, why not apply one of the essential oil blends to help you CHILL OUT too; although they could be used at any time of the day or night, such as:
Stress Away, Peace & Calming, or even the recently launched CBD Calm roller, which due to its extraction process has absolutely 0% THC, and has been having great results for those that have previously had trouble switching off and sleeping at night.
I’ll be giving a detailed webinar on the subject of CBD next month.

Have you seen Feather The Owl?
If you’re wanting a diffuser that has been tested by and for children, then Feather The Owl is a perfect choice.
It was launched last week at convention. It is a humidifier, aroma diffuser, night-light and white-noise machine…ALL IN ONE.
It has 10 LED light options and 5 white-noise sound options: rain, birds, ocean waves, fan and lullaby.
It also comes with a free 5 ml Lavender, so you have all you need to start using it straight away.
A significant amount of research has gone into this product and it also supports the environment and aviary population.
We’ve already mentioned most of the KidScents Oils
The KidScents essential oil blends were created to address the most common concerns of childhood. They are diluted for ages 2-12, so as parents we don’t have to think – just grab and apply as needed. We’ve got:
Their names are pretty much self explanatory. And we have them ALL in this household!
And finally we have Teacher Gifts
Gift baskets for teachers are a very popular thing now-a-days. Why not fill it with a few of your favorite Thieves Products to show your appreciation for all they do.
Plus, enjoy the peace and mind of promoting natural and effective alternatives to chemical soaps and cleaners in their classroom.
I would LOVE these practical solutions!
With everything we’ve covered tonight, let’s THRIVE this coming school year instead of only SURVIVING!
