Love Your Skin!

– It’s An Important Step In Self Care.

As mentioned in our previous blog that covered several products ideal for treating that special someone in your life, self care is so important. However, this isn’t always given priority, especially when you’re a busy mom.

So here we are going to give an overview of skin products that many question the difference between. For example moisturizers, serums, facial wash and more.

Young Living has many excellent non toxic options for us, bringing together premium botanical and essential oil ingredients to support and improve the appearance of your skin. And as with all Young Living products, these skin care products are highly concentrated – a little goes a very long way.

Our skin is our largest organ, so we cannot forget about it. It needs us to care for it, and it’s an important step in self care. Young Living’s skin care line offers essential skin care solutions for every skin type with products that are expertly formulated to help your skin look healthy and smooth, so no matter what your skin needs I’m positive you’ll find the perfect fit among the following quick breakdown of several of them (with a focus on facial care):

CHARCOAL BAR SOAP

Let’s start our highlighting of skin care products with bar soap. Young Living has multiple scents to choose from, and our household hasn’t come across one that we don’t like yet. However today we’re only going to review the Charcoal soap, as it’s different from the rest.

It’s technically for your whole body, but I love it for my face on occasion. We could all do with extra help pulling out nasty toxins from everyday life.  This black soap is amazing!

Young Living’s Charcoal Bar Soap is made with the powerful absorption properties of activated charcoal, which pulls out dirt and impurities without stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Its naturally derived formula includes powerful skin-cleaning agents, moisturizing ingredients, and the bright, fresh scent of our Orange Blossom essential oil blend.

Use it for your body to cleanse and deodorize, or add it to your skin care routine. The unique benefits of charcoal soap make it an especially suitable face soap for combination, oily, or acne-prone skin to help maintain a clear, healthy-looking complexion.

ART GENTLE CLEANSER & ORANGE BLOSSOM FACIAL WASH

Now let’s follow on with two more  popular cleansers. I like these both, but as I have naturally more oily skin I find the Orange Blossom Facial Wash to work wonders, and I don’t like to be without it.

It’s made from 100 percent naturally derived ingredients, is great for sensitive skin, reduces surface oils and removes dirt and makeup without making your skin feel overly dry or tight.

Orange Blossom Facial Wash is a hypoallergenic, gentle face wash for oily skin and leaves behind no pore-clogging residue, so it will perfectly complement your daily skin care regimen. After use, round out your citrus-kissed day with Orange Blossom Moisturizer.

The ART Gentle Cleanser is another great option that promotes glowing skin by washing away impurities with a soft, gentle lather. It is infused with skin-loving essential oils so your face will feel clean and refreshed with a renewed, radiant look.

I have also made my own in the past with Castile soap and essential oils.

These are very cheap to make and work wonders, great oils to add include:

Normal skin: Frankincense, Orange and Carrot Seed
Oily skin: Rosemary, Geranium, Tea Tree and Lavender

BEAUTY MASQUE: MASK & CREAM

Once you have a cleaned your face, at least once a week it’s ideal to give your skin a masque of some kind.  Unfortunately I don’t set enough time aside to do this, and I certainly don’t  have the money (or babysitters) to be popping down to the spa every week. Thankfully Young Living has two different Masques for you to choose from, and when I do set aside a little of my evening to enjoy this step, my face truly thanks me.

The Creme Masque is designed to deeply moisturize, tighten and restore youthfulness. It’s great for all skin types. As this is a simple-to-use cream,  I have even left it on all night on a couple of occasions – waking up feeling ready to go.

The Beauty Masque is a fabric that you lay on your face as you sit back and relax. There is also a little trick to getting two sessions out of the same masque – talk about money saver! It’s designed to leave on your skin soft and radiant. Afterwards you’ll also feel very refreshed. It’s not surprising really as the orchid petals used in this formula are very popular in Asian beauty techniques.

Satin Facial Scrub

Who’s tried the Satin Facial Scrub? Oh this smells SO good and it’s a great way to wake up my senses in the morning!

The Satin Facial Scrub is a naturally derived exfoliator that polishes and preps your skin. It’s made with apricot seed powder, and gently lifts and removes dry, dead skin cells to reveal bright and even-looking skin. Plus, it has pure Peppermint essential oil for a minty scent and tingly fresh feel.

Use it to start the day or to take the day off; whenever you reach for it, you’ll leave a clean, smooth slate for the next step in your skin care regimen.

ART REFRESHING TONER

After washing your face and/or using a facial scrub, this ART (Age Refining Technology) Refreshing Toner is great for bringing back balance to your skin’s pH level.

It also gently removes impurities without drying the skin so it’s a great way to remove any stubborn residue makeup or grime when you find yourself too tired to wash your face after a long day.

Containing a perfect blend of essential oils, it has multiple uses that help balance your skin’s pH, while leaving your face clean, toned, and refreshed.

And one of the best parts is that yet again, a little goes a long way.

ROSE OINTMENT

Rose Ointment is a deeply nourishing blend for dry skin. Rose essential oil improves skin texture, while Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) works to soothe rough, irritated skin.

This is a popular product as if you’re wanting some of the benefits of Rose this is cheaper than buying the individual Rose essential oil. However, as it’s a thick ointment, it’s not something I’m going to apply all over my face, so I get the much cheaper Animal Scents Ointment for my body, which is an all plant based ointment perfect for your dear pets and your own skin. I love it, especially on my heals that work so hard as I’m normally walking around bare foot (except when out shopping in public), but if you wanting Rose in your life then this one is the one for you.

Now, let’s talk face serums….

ART RENEWAL SERUM

Who loves the ART Renewal Serum as much as me?

It is an intricate blend of an exotic orchid extract and essential oils that benefits the most delicate areas of the face. These premium ingredients are formulated to deeply nourish,  hydrate, and help maintain a youthful appearance.

You only need half a pump for you face, which I apply (when I remember) before applying moisturizer. I can feel the much needed rich nourishment that it gives my skin, and it provides a much smoother base for makeup application.

As mentioned before, these orchids are key in many Asian facial regimes.

Essential Beauty Serum

Now for those of you that have dry skin, Young Living’s Essential Beauty Serum is the one for you. It contains essential oils like Blue Cypress and Lavender, which are known for their ability to restore the skin’s natural moisture balance.

Due to my skin type this is one that I haven’t used personally.

ART LIGHT MOISTURIZER

ART Light Moisturizer helps your skin retain and maintain proper hydration. With Young Living essential oils and other premium ingredients – your skin will enjoy a feeling of silky softness.

This moisturizer is great for an everyday light facial moisturizer, and you can get it even cheaper when you buy it in the combination pack that also contains the ART cleanser and ART toner already mentioned in the last couple of weeks.

ART INTENSIVE MOISTURIZER

Another of Young Living’s moisturizing creams with the same technology is: ART Intensive Moisturizer. You’ll want to add this one to your daily skin care and discover the perfect way to pamper yourself. I use it when my skin is in need of more moisturize, especially in the winter.

This deep, ultra-hydrating lotion recaptures the qualities of younger-looking skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps skin feel smoother and more pliable.

It’s made completely from naturally derived ingredients that nourishes the skin with ingredients such as pracaxi seed oil and blue bird hibiscus leaf extract to even skin tone and promote hydration. Five premium essential oils have also been added to create a light floral scent and luxurious experience that leaves your skin feeling soft, refreshed, and radiant. Clinically tested and non-irritating, ART Intensive Moisturizer is sure to be a welcomed addition to your morning or evening routine!

Sheerlumé & Orange Blossom Moisturizers

Sheerlumé is an advanced formula powered by a sophisticated, proprietary blend of alpine botanicals and pure essential oils. It is a very popular cream as it will visibly brighten and balance skin tone. It’s one of my personal favorites.

However, Orange Blossom moisturizer is my current daily go-to. It is made to benefit those of us with oily complexions and still provides us with much needed hydration thanks to the essential oils included.

This moisturizer improves the appearance of skin without irritation from harsh chemicals, like all of Young Living’s skin care line. This essential oil-based moisturizer uses only naturally derived, plant-based ingredients that are non-comedogenic and vegan-friendly.

Orange Blossom Moisturizer helps skin maintain optimal moisture balance, controls excess oil and shine, and preps your face for makeup with its natural-looking matte finish.

If you’re wanting clearer skin this is a great choice to use in conjunction with the Orange Blossom Facial Wash already mentioned.

Thanks to these two I hardly have any break outs anymore, which I used to get all the time. I felt like a teenager. When I do have an occasional set back, it’s normally because I’ve been on-the-go for too many days in a row and therefore I am very run down. Not really surprising when you have energetic kiddos and you don’t take time out for yourself. Remember, we’re covering self care this month!

At this point I also want to highlight the Sandalwood cream.  I use this very thick cream for my body e.g. knees and feet. It’s too thick for my face, but I’m giving it a quick mention here as I know some with drier skin use it as a facial cream.

Boswellia Wrinkle Cream

The last two facial creams we are going to cover during this month of love and self care are a couple of unique and fabulous thicker facial creams:

Boswellia Wrinkle Cream contains pure essential oils like Frankincense and Sandalwood that moisturize the skin while minimizing shine and reducing the appearance of fine lines.

This is my special weekend night cream (when I remember). In the morning my skin visually looks and feels so much better. Well, with its ingredients you shouldn’t really be surprised. I only wish I remembered to use this one more!!! I think it’s a game changer.

Wolfberry Eye Cream

Wolfberry Eye Cream is a natural, water-based moisturizer. Containing the anti-aging and skin-conditioning properties of the wolfberry seed oil, this cream soothes tired eyes and minimizes the appearance of fine lines.

You only need a tiny bit on your finger to dab around your eyes. It’s fabulous and my pot has last me a long time! Again, when I remember to use it, I see a difference in the morning.

Personally, to ensure I get the most of the ingredients in both of these creams I tend not to use them in the same night.

What’s Your Favorite Facial Regime?

Do you have a favorite Young Living cleanser, serum or moisturizer? Or are you like me and love so many of them that you mix around depending on your current need?  Hopefully this has given you the opportunity to learn a little bit of the differences between certain skin care products and to help you with decisions, especially as there are several options.

The important part is to take the time and take care of your skin. This is something I really need to work on. We face air pollutants, sun rays, wind and so much more daily that we need to pump non-toxic goodness back in. We are in it for the long haul.

I find the thinking of myself the hardest. But when we like the way our skin looks, we feel good and naturally have a better day. Take the time to take care of your skin and your future self will thank you.
